StubbleX is a patented mobile pyrolysis unit, CIPHET-approved, that converts crop residue into biochar directly in the field — turning what would be burned into a soil input on-site.
Biochar improves soil water retention, so fields hold moisture longer between irrigations. Across monitored plots this has reduced irrigation demand by up to 30%.
Crop residue can be converted into biochar in the field instead of burned. A mobile pyrolysis unit processes 0.5–1 tonne per batch at roughly 35% output yield, so residue becomes a soil input and a carbon asset rather than smoke. Applied on the farmer's own land, it pays back in 1–2 crop cycles.
Production runs about ₹4.5–7 per kg of biochar, depending on the feedstock. Because the pyrolysis unit is mobile, residue is processed where it falls, which removes the collection and haulage cost that usually makes crop residue uneconomic to handle.
Every batch carries a dMRV record: the plot is geo-registered, collection and processing are logged, output is lab-tested and batch-certified, and dispatch is sealed and tracked to the buyer. Across the network this has produced 3,000+ tCO₂e verified and 800+ tonnes of carbon locked, with 2,500 tonnes of residue monetised.
